Recently the new SO-CAL Speed Shop Los Angeles (located in Wilmington, CA) staff awaited the rumblings of hot rods on a sunny Saturday afternoon for their first annual "Hot Rod Halloween" and Grand Opening party. When the party kicked off SO-CAL L.A. owner and proprietor Jim Aust (former R&C Senior Editor) was thrilled when hot rods, customs, classics and lowriders overflowed the parking lot and filled the streets for three blocks in both directions. With those cars came plenty of hot rod enthusiasts to check out the new 5,000 square foot establishment.
Awaiting the party goers was plenty of food and entertainment and a chance to rub elbows and meet many heroes like SO-CAL Speed Shop president Pete Chapouris and his top fabricator and star of "Hardshine" Jimmy Shine. Also on hand for the party were many of Jim Aust's longtime friends like the Choppers car club from Burbank, CA and renowned automotive artist Chris "Coop" Cooper. This latest addition to the SO-CAL Speed Shop legacy looks forward to many years serving both the local community of hot rodders (already planning upcoming events and next years' party) as well as globally through their own website at www.socalspeedshopla.com.
