Pinkee's Rod Shop in Windsor, Colorado, held the kickoff party for the Goodguys Colorado show for the third year in a row. This year's party was bigger and better than ever with sponsorships from Coca-Cola, Dellenbach Motors, and Broadmoor Heights Phillips 66. Hemrod (featured in R&C, July '08) had the prime spot at the party-on display in the showroom of the shop.
Since the tornado hit the town of Windsor exactly one week before the party, a number of businesses stepped up to the plate and donated items for a raffle. Hundreds of dollars were raised to give directly to families affected by the tornado. Thanks to Napa, Matco Tools, Snap-on Tools, BEI Inc., Collins Muffler, Custom Garage Works, Dave Widhelm, and SO-CAL Speed Shop of Pueblo for the donated items.
Pinkee's had the Pro's Picks trophies on display at the kickoff party so everyone could see the hardware that potentially could be theirs. On Saturday, the crew from Pinkee's picked the 10 Pro's Picks cars, which included a good sampling of cars at the show and ranged from a traditional '32 five-window coupe to a high-tech '67 pickup. Rodney James and the Blue Flames played live rockabilly music all evening while everyone enjoyed the great weather, food, and touring the shop to check out the cool projects.
