Rich and Sharon Hoefling restored... Rich and Sharon Hoefling restored the well-known Moonkist '23 T in recognition of its 30th anniversary, and it was a treat to see it at Columbus. The blown 396 big-block is topped by a trio of Edelbrock four-barrels, all supported by those skinny spindle mounts. "Win or lose, follow me to... "Win or lose, follow me to Shady O'Grady's pub" is the legend sign written across the back of this heavily rust-pitted and faux-patina'd '48 Crossley. Dennis Arnold's '46 Ford grilled gem was one of our favorite cars of the weekend, not to mention in contention with the '38 Bantam pickup for smallest car of the weekend. No four-pot here, though, just 302 inches of Ford's finest. Brian Wisniewski's '32 Vicky... Brian Wisniewski's '32 Vicky may be finished in primer, but it looks perfect to our eyes. The tire choice and nerf bars hint at a circle-track influence, while the unfinished interior sports garnish moldings and a dash in the same color as the grille insert. You may just be able to make out the three wipers, too. Hey, it rains in New Jersey! The Geezer Gassers (www.geezergassers.com)... The Geezer Gassers (www.geezergassers.com) is a touring team that races their vintage gassers at match races around the country. With no alcohol, and no electronics, they claim to be the only period-correct vintage race group in the U.S. This Chevy big-block-powered 9-second/140mph '40 Willys was a street rod before owner Ron Doran converted it to a drag car. Traditional early Fords are... Traditional early Fords are like potato chips-we can't stop with just one. Pat Larkin's '30 Model A coupe got it right with a 327, Weiand high-rise intake, and dual 4s, plus those nice flames and a red and white tuck 'n' roll interior. The little bit of red on the brakes, shocks, spindles, and block looks just right. Just under $30K could have... Just under $30K could have seen you driving home in the Cozby family's refrigerator white '60 Impala, sitting pretty in white upholstery with red piping. With a 348 and TH350 under the hood, that grille from a same-year Mercury leads the way with style. Go on, tell us what it is!... Go on, tell us what it is! It's a mix of '38 Bantam body, Cushman pickup bed, and Toyota four-banger motor, with the radiator in the rear. It's also one of the smallest pickups we've ever seen; and with the doors welded shut, access is gained through the roof. Those crazy wheels are what sold us on it, though! This silver metallic '51 Chevy... This silver metallic '51 Chevy was a gift to Pam Shearer from husband Mel, about 30 years ago. The car disappeared after the first painter stole it. Luckily, it was recovered and rebuilt. A 350 replaced the inline-six a year ago. It sits on a Heidts Mustang II frontend and a '68 Camaro rear. Dennis Foley's '50 Olds Holiday... Dennis Foley's '50 Olds Holiday hardtop kept it in the family with a 455 motor and 400 trans. The frenched headlights kept the original flavor by retaining the stock parking lights' housings while gas struts held the hood open for everyone to enjoy the vintage engine. This '32 roadster was put... This '32 roadster was put together at the event, as part of the Christian Rodders & Racers Association's CRA Hot Rod Camp. The program gives teenage hot rodders (not shown) a chance to participate in putting together a hot rod. Work had actually started a week before, and final assembly was done at the Nats.
