Being local means it's easier... Being local means it's easier to bring more than one car to a show, and Bob Bradberry not only brought his '34 truck in the background, but also showed this very cool '60 Olds 88 with Bellflower tips and slammed over chromed 'n' capped steelies. | Pull out the June 2008 issue... Pull out the June 2008 issue of R&C and you'll see John Mearns' '36 in its pre-paint bare metal glory. Unsure of the new motor, John trailered it from California, but managed to drive it halfway home before developing a few problems. | Oscar Vera's straight-axle'd,... Oscar Vera's straight-axle'd, nose-up '56 Chevy gasser ran a cage, fenderwell headers and blue tinted windows. We guess the radials make it less of a handful on the bumpy roads of Texas. |
As usual the Beatniks were... As usual the Beatniks were out in force, Jeff Myers bringing his rad '57 Cad from Kansas. Rolling on chrome wires, the chopped Coupe Seville is one of only 2,100 built in '57. | Those are some seriously stretched... Those are some seriously stretched fenders to accommodate the Continental kit on Adrian's '51 Chevy hardtop. Loc Cochinos? They're Chinese chickens aren't they? Filthy ones. | Strays member, Roger added... Strays member, Roger added Packard taillights to his '54 Chevy, whacked the top with an inverted backlight, deleted all trim except the beltline stainless and added spotlights for a very cool look. |
We were digging Michael Gilpin's... We were digging Michael Gilpin's '34 five window, with all the hallmarks of an older build-master cylinder mounted on an aluminum firewall, '32 grille, Z'd chassis and channeled body, and nerf bar. | This sidetrim treatment is... This sidetrim treatment is one of my personal favorites on a chopped shoebox Ford, and a great way to break up a two-tone paintjob. Peaked fenders and headlight trims and a Chevy grille complete the facelift. | The trip out to Ski Shores... The trip out to Ski Shores was a perfect wind-down to the weekend before heading home. A great setting and even better food on the wooden deck right on the river made for a relaxing couple of hours shooting the breeze and watching boats come and go. |
Fifty or 60 cars showed up... Fifty or 60 cars showed up Sunday for the drive out to Ski Shores Cafe, including Cathy and Jack Stirnemann's tri-carbed Flathead-powered Deuce roadster. Plenty of chrome offset the burgundy paint perfectly on this period-perfect St. Louis, Missouri-based '32. | Jeff Wells' chopped 'n' channeled... Jeff Wells' chopped 'n' channeled '29 sedan sits atop a Model A chassis and runs a small-block Ford. With just a windshield and no roof insert, the ride over from Houston was a damp one, we're guessing! | Michael Lightbourne's '60... Michael Lightbourne's '60 Impala convertible is the subject of a number of subtle mods, notably the grille swap, '57 Chevy hood "gunsights," and louvers. Taking the Mexican blanket interior several steps further than most, the upholstery is mainly stitched from said material. |
Steve Wertheimer not only... Steve Wertheimer not only owns the Continental Club, he is a member of the host car club that derived its name from said club, and he also owns a number of cool cars, including this Model A roadster, dubbed the Waco Kid. Modified with '40 Ford running gear back in the day, it apparently was street raced until losing in '55, when it was parked. Not any more though... | One of the owners of Austin... One of the owners of Austin Speed Shop, John Joyo, showed his as-found '36 Ford. | You can't get a much cooler... You can't get a much cooler bike hauler than a '59 Elky, especially when it's slapped on the ground with skirts. Satin green paint makes this one stand out even more than a stocker does in today's traffic. |
