For one reason or another, just about every Young Guns submission we've gotten since starting the program has been a traditionally styled rod or custom. This month's winner is no exception. Cincinnati resident Lou Armbruster claims to have been into cars since birth, stating "I knew a 'Deuce' before I knew Dr. Seuss." This lifelong devotion to all things automotive becomes readily apparent when one takes a gander at the ambitious 28-year-old's pride and joy, a gorgeous '50 Ford custom that looks like it rolled right off the pages of R&C circa 1955. However, traditional styling cues like Chevy headlights, '49 Plymouth bumpers, '55 Dodge grille, shaved bod, and Mandarin Copper paint all mask the fact that this hard-runnin' custom rolls down the road on modern underpinnings. A Chevelle front clip, Camaro rear suspension, and built small-block Chevy help make the Shoebox reliable enough to drive cross-country, which the young custom king has done on several occasions. For his bravado we've named Lou April's Young Gun of the Month. Lou will receive a $400 gift certificate redeemable at Coker Tire, which is perfect, since that's where his current set of whitewalls came from. Get to work driving the tread off your Ford, Lou, cuz you'll have a new set of shoes waiting for ya when you return!
