Interesting, as my 38 hemi sedan project is just this, although I refer to it as my 1961 hotrod.  No, we didn't chop it, or ad Mini or Mercedes Benz headlights, just did the halogen intensive headlights, dropped it down a bit, kept the stainless trim, kind of gives it class to me.  Used 38 Lincoln Zephyr taillights and recessed them in, along with the rear license plate.  Something else, the stock 38 bumpers look like someone made them out of sheetmetal, then chromed them.  We went with the 39 Deluxe Ford bumpers.  That rib down the middle that Ford painted blue, kind of separates it.  Then for power, here's where the HEMI comes in, we went with the 57 Dodge 325, complete with the D-500 small dual quads.  Keeping the dash stock, although it is a 39 rather than  a 38 dash.  Stock radio updated to am/fm and digital, put a stock type heater to route the heat and a/c and got rid of the floor shifter.  That thing always gets in the way when working under the dash. Juliano Banjo with column shifter.  That's my 38.
