The inspiration for this month's Dream Car came from my own shop and experience, from a Stinger Hot Rod Shop stretched '27 Ford roadster body and chassis package. My starting point for this hot little roadster is a 5 1/2-inch-stretched cockpit and 2 1/2-inch-stretched door that allows for more than ample room without altering the original look of the car. The roadster is the epitome of hot rodding, and this Indy-inspired '27 goes a long way in invigorating the venerable T.
The '27 is coated with golden copper paint with aggressive cream scallops. The scallops are highlighted by a maroon pinstripe which makes the cream-colored scallops glow. The maroon interior with a touch of aluminum and leather gives this car a real rich look but harkens back to its racing heritage.
An Offy-inspired Quad 4 engine with side-draft Weber carburetors and a five-speed manual transmission would power the roadster. It rides on a custom chassis that is produced to fit this stretched roadster. The exterior of the car is designed to give an old racing hot rod look with front and rear hairpins, fairings with exposed rivets, blister headrests, and side-steer. The Indy-style nose with its chrome grille and smooth-faced magnesium wheels finish off the competition look.
