'50 Olds 88 CoupeWilliam ChristiansenQuartz Hill, CAWilliam's Olds lends credence to the saying, "This isn't your father's Oldsmobile." Though this bright-yellow beauty isn't driven near as much as William would like it to be, it still turns heads at lots of local and regional shows around its home. The coupe is powered by a ZZ4 Chevy backed by a Turbo 400 trans and Currie 9-inch, and has been updated with a Nova front clip and a myriad other goodies. If Charles really would like to add a few miles to her odometer, he's more than welcome to bring it on down and leave it here in Anaheim for a week or two-we'd rack up a few miles on her for him, for sure.
'32 Ford RoadsterAndrew Schlacter, Norwalk, OHNow here's an astute 23-year-old. Rather than tune on a Focus or Mitsubishi like his buddies, Andrew bought this Deuce roadster last summer. It's based on a Roadster Shop chassis and Ravon body and sports such goodies as a Pete & Jake's dropped axle and four-bar setup, Wilwood brakes, and a small-block Chevy with triple carbs, which are all functional thanks to Andrew. The Hugger Orange paint and Tom "Itchy" Combs 'striping are cool, too. Andrew says he put more than 5,000 miles on the car last season, even getting caught in the rain a few times. "The car has a nice fitted black top," he says, "but why put it on?" Why, indeed!
'40 Ford DeLuxe SedanBruce & Linda White, Rochester, NHWhat does a rodder do when the wife wants a car for her and the kids? If he's Bruce White, he builds a fun '40 Ford sedan with a warmed-over 307 Chevy, T10 four-speed, and 8-inch rearend. Kid tunes play on an amped-up stereo while Linda (aka Mom) turns a leather-wrapped banjo wheel atop an ididit tilt column. The cool rake comes courtesy of a disc-braked Pete & Jake's dropped axle and parallel rear leafs sporting classic wide whites on chrome smoothies. This is family fun its best, so be sure to wave if you see Linda, Tucker, Hudson (is this a car family or what?), and Emma crusin' the streets.
