Describing himself as a "huge rod and custom fanatic," Donny Stark tells us that builds custom cars alongside his best friend, Ricky Pollreis, who is another young fan of old iron. This '54 Chevy was the duo's 2003 summer project, and was built in Danny's driveway.
Starting with a Bel Air two-door sedan, Danny and Ricky applied all the standard '50s custom tricks-frenched headlights with '54 Ford headlight rings, welded hood blended into the upper grille bar, extra grille teeth, welded bumpers, and frenched taillights with Lee-style lenses. These traditional touches are juxtaposed with two decidedly more contemporary elements-bright red paint and 20-inch Eagle wheels.
The big wheels and bright paint may make the Chevy look like a million bucks, but these Young Guns kept costs down by keeping the original drivetrain in place. The 235-inch six now benefits from an electronic ignition, dual exhaust, plus some well-placed chrome and paint, but by and large remains simple and thrifty. You gotta love that.
