I bought my 1931 Model A pickup from a fellow here in Oregon who had several old cars at his residence. He had to sell it because he was going through a divorce. I made him an offer and he took it! I could tell once I got into it that the little truck had been built in a hurry. Luckily for me, the frame is a beautiful aftermarket unit that's fully boxed with new crossmembers. It has a Super Bell dropped front axle, a POSIES spring, Vega cross steering, and split wishbones. Rear suspension is a transverse leaf connected to a '50s Merc rearend. A Chevy small-block 283 topped by a Tri-power runs the power to a Turbo 350 transmission. Dual exhaust runs through a pair of Smitty's mufflers. It's a cool little truck for burning up the neighborhood!
Future plans include a rear gear change, new torque converter and cam, paint (who knows when?), and some pinstriping or flames.

I bought this car 15 years ago, after it had been used for target practice in a field it had been sitting in for a long time. What mattered most to me was that it was a coupe. After getting it back in shape, the ported, polished, and relieved Flathead was bored .125 over and fitted with Jahns pistons, Weiand heads, and a 4-bbl intake with a "tea pot" Holley carb, an Isky full race cam, Fenton headers, a Mallory dual-point distributor, and is followed by an overdrive trans and a stock rearend with 4.11 rear gears. It has been lowered 3 inches in front and 4 inches in the rear, with Ansen traction bars added to the mix. It drives and handles like a dream, has plenty of power, and even gets good gas mileage. I built it like I would have in the '50s, with the exception of the 12-volt alternator. This car is all homebuilt (except the chrome). I have invested less in this car than most have in their paint jobs.
