It's an extremely tall order trying to find a genuine '32 Ford roadster today, but Steve LeBlanc was lucky enough in 2004 to have his uncle, Michael "Jack" Hartney, hand him the keys to his ol' roadster that he had been the proprietor of since 1941. Steve wasted no time and completely went through the car and got the veteran hot rod back together a year later, just in time for Uncle Jack to take a spin on his 80th birthday! Steve says another 65 years in the family should be no problem for the '32 since his son has taken a strong interest in the family heirloom.
Owner pride is not a problem for Al Peirish; he thinks his car is tops and he has had plenty of heavy hitters support that opinion. We think it's pretty nice, too, and love the thought Al put into the combination of custom pieces. Up front Al didn't like the "sad eyes" and "sour mouth" of the original car so he remedied that situation with a pair of headlights from a '57 Oldsmobile and a grille from a '53 Holden (an Australian GM product). In the rear, Al used a pair of '60 Chrysler Imperial taillights just like he did on his original Skyliner in 1961. For power, Al relies on a modified Ford 302 with an RV cam, Edelbrock intake, and an electronic ignition system. Behind the engine is a C4 transmission connected to a Caddy rearend.
