Sam DamsAntwerp, Belgium1941 Buick
Back in 2000, Sam purchased his '41 Buick as a 1,000-piece puzzle. The previous owner had started to disassemble the car and had plans of building a pro-streeter back in the early '90s. Thankfully he lost interest before destroying the car. Sam made a rendering of what he wanted the car to look like and took the "puzzle" to C&T Speed Shop in Holland, run by members of his car club, Scrapers. Sam wanted a reliable car so he went for a 305ci Chevy engine with 700-R4 trans attached to it. A Nova front clip (included as a piece of the puzzle when purchased with the car) was installed and airbags were added all around to dial in the stance. The bodywork includes a 3-inch chop, some shaving, frenching, and welded fenders for a smoother look. After two years driving around in flat black, the body was sprayed in a rich glossy black. The upholstery is fire engine red leather tuck 'n' roll. Sam says it is one amazing car to drive around in and he has thoroughly enjoyed it ever since putting it back on the road.
Phil EdmondsHenderson, NV1954 Lincoln
Phil recently completed the restoration of the '54 Lincoln Cosmopolitan he originally found languishing out in the desert. A little weathered, the Lincoln was surprisingly complete. Phil tackled the complete restoration, which saw the removal of every part short of separating the body from the frame. Phil has previously built a couple of street rods and intended to "rod" this car until he realized how great it looked stock and what a great stance it had. Virtually all of the work (except for the chrome, machining, and upholstery) was completed in Phil's workshop.
Sticking with the stock theme, the only deviations are the Hydro Boost brake system, a 12-volt conversion, some engine performance upgrades, and a hidden audio system (located in the old battery box under the toeboard).
Randy GregantiWhittier, CA1960 Rambler
Just in case you don't recognize it, Randy's ride started out as a 1960 Rambler Cross Country four-door wagon. Randy likes unusual powerplants so he still runs the stock OHV straight-six with a push-button automatic trans. After the conversion from wagon to delivery, the Rambler was upgraded with a full air-ride system, a booming stereo with 12-disc changer, two LCD screens, and Auto Meter gauges. Randy's grandfather bought the Rambler new and gave it to his sister in 1974. Randy's sister drove the car until 1983 and then it sat in her backyard until Randy was tossed the keys in 2001. While his sister was taking care of the Rambler she occasionally rented it to the TV studios. It appeared in an episode of "Night Rider" and was also featured in episodes of "Murder She Wrote." This is a truly homebuilt car that was totally completed in Randy's driveway, including the paint.
Joe and Janet IrwinSparta, NC1932 Ford
This all-steel 1932 Ford sedan is one that Joe and Janet have owned for more than 40 years! It can be considered "low mileage" since the Irwins had it stored for over 35 years and completed a rebuild in 2000. They began the rebuild after purchasing a damaged Camaro and used the 350/350 combo along with the 10-bolt posi-traction rearend, power brakes, steering column, instrument panel (in an owner-made walnut dash), and even the complete wiring harness. The chassis features a Total Cost Invovled IFS mounted to the modified boxed (original) frame. When Joe and Janet purchased the '32 in 1963 for $125, it was sans motor and trans, but to make it a decent deal it came with four N.O.S. fenders with the Ford part number markings still visible. For the re-do, the body was completely disassembled and sandblasted along with the frame and all, and were given many coats of fresh paint. The interior was upholstered in red velvet. The finishing touch is a set of Centerline wheels with 205/65R15s on the front and 225/75R15s on the rear.
Rick StantonEugene, OR1954 Ford Victoria
Rick didn't send us a ton of information (probably too busy enjoying his car), but what he did include about his Ford Victoria was that it runs a 351 Ford Windsor backed by an AOD trans, a 9-inch rear and disc brakes all around. He also told us that the interior has been built around the stereo system with 14 speakers and 1,100 watts of power. He says it sounds like you're in a concert hall. Rick just wanted to show that there are some different rides out there. His is a nice one.
