Tom Carley has been listening to his grandmother's stories about her hot rodding brothers all his life. After his grandmother's recent death, he received a pretty cool surprise he knew R&C readers would appreciate, and he sent us this e-mail:
"My name is Tommy Carley. I am 31 and live in Orlando, Florida. Recently, my lovely grandmother passed away. I had always heard stories about her brothers in Canada who had tinkered with boats and cars to make them go fast. I had never been in possession of any evidence of this, until now. I received a box of pictures that were in my grandmother's house. Among the celluloid treasures, I found these photos of my great-uncle Bert (the one seen cranking the car in the first photo) and a car he built. I believe it to be a T frame and stock four-banger, but the body was custom built from wooden orange crates. Note the Auburn-like boat tail. I just thought you might get as big of a kick out of these photos as I did."
