DrivetrainA stock 1946 Flathead V-8 was installed along with a '39 three-speed transmission and converted to 12-volt wiring for the time being.

ChassisThe chassis was kept pretty simple so Kent and Wolf could concentrate on the body. A 4-inch dropped front axle with stock '40 Mercury brakes gets the front down while a Columbia two-speed rearend hangs on Firestone airbags in the rear.

ExteriorThe roof was chopped 5 inches in the front and 7 1/2 inches in the rear. The B-pillars and drip rails were removed. The rear window was chopped 1 3/4 inches and the windshield's upper edge moved up in the roof 1 3/4 inches. The fenders were molded to the body, and all handles and chrome trim were removed. The shaved and sliced body was then sprayed dark maroon metallic, and 1946 Ford bumpers were added for a little flash. The stock taillights were removed and custom lights were integrated in the bumper guards.

Wheels & TiresA classic custom deserves some classic rolling stock, so a set of 15-inch Mercury steelies were complemented with Caddy Sombrero hubcaps with bullets and wrapped with Goodyear 7.10x15 whitewalls.

InteriorThe light gray Naugahyde interior was fairly new in the car when Kent bought it, so he kept it for now, but it will be redone someday in the dark red and off-white, just like the Matranga coupe. The dash is original.
