You can always tell a guy whos hooked on performance. Hes the one whose car has to go faster, turn quicker, and stop shorter than the next guy. Take a peek inside Ray Maretts stable and youll understand what were talking about. From his 65 GTO vert to his 66 Vette to his Viper GTS and the six or so other pavement pounders in his barn, Ray demonstrates a need for speed. But speed isnt Rays only addiction; as a sales manager for House of Kolor, his rides have to look every bit as good as they go. When the time came for a new project, up jumped a cherry pie 56 Bel Air that Ray just couldnt resist.
Although the car was in solid original condition aside from a swapped-in 327, a complete teardown was in order. Ray jumped in without hesitation. In 15 short months, Ray, with the help of two good friends, Charley Richardson and Bob Lander, completely rebuilt the car from the driveway up, improving and modernizing components as the project progressed. The end result found its way into the favored parking spot in the Marett garage and center stage in the House of Kolor boothas was intendedat a car show near you. Look for it.
