How long is the road from roach to righteous? About six months long, according to Dion Giuliano. That’s how long it took him and his cohorts to bring his ’64 Riv back from the brink.

It’s one thing to find a clean, solid, original car and go through it, and quite another to have to dig two feet of rat nasties out of the trunk before you can even begin to think about getting started. It gives getting vaccinated a whole new meaning—hence the name of the car. Since the Riv’s been finished, Bubonic Plague has been infecting just about everyone who lays eyes on it, garnering a Best Flames award at West Coast Kustoms’ Cruisin’ Paso Robles event in 2000. There’s so much to look at in the paint job alone that you could spend an hour soaking up all of the airbrush and pinstripe details.
