Lucky Streak for a 1934 Buick

“You snooze you lose” are words that probably ought to be tattooed prominently on most of us—except maybe David Bjorge, who lucked out big time. When David first spotted a ’34 Buick shell on a farm on the North Dakota prairie in 1989, he passed on it and built a ’48 Cadillac instead. But he never forgot about the beat-up Buick, and after 8 years, he unloaded the Cadillac, drove back to North Dakota, and bought the car that was still waiting for him. It was another 2 years before the Buick was completely rebuilt into the smoothie you see here. Less than a month after it was finished we came across it at Back to the ’50s in St. Paul and shot these photos. You probably saw Bjorge’s Buick as one of the 100 Best of 2000 picks in the Jan. ’01 issue. Here’s a closer look.
