Do you know what the most common car for building a street rod is? It's the car that somebody else started building but never got around to finishing.
That's how Joseph Phillips and the guys at Wind Rider Street Rods in Beckley, West Virginia, ended up with this '40 Standard coupe, which they converted from abandoned project car to blazing blue beauty in just under a year. The guys must have had a checklist when they built this flamed '40 coupe. Capable of winning street rod shows. Check. Reliable for around town cruising. Check. Comfortable and safe for long-distance road trips. Check. By the time they were done, they had created a screaming street rod that succeeds on all counts. We spotted the occasionally-driven coupe at the NSRA Nats East in York, PA, last year and included it as one of the year's 100 Best.
