Rod of the Year and Custom of the YearThe Americruise is the only event in the country where you have the chance to fight for the title of R&C Rod of the Year (pre-1949) and R&C Custom of the Year (1949-1964). The competition begins when the judges from R&C select the Top 5 contenders for ROTY and COTY based on exterior design, fit 'n' finish, interior, engine compartment, and undercarriage. Those 10 finalists will duke it out on city streets and fairground challenges to test handling, acceleration, and braking. By the end of the weekend, one car will be Rod of the Year and one will be the Custom of the Year. Will yours be one of those cars? Deuce Week Is Almost HereThe Petersen Automotive Museum has been sponsoring Deuce Day for several years. This year, in honor of the 75th anniversary of the '32 Ford, the Petersen has stretched Deuce Day into Deuce Week, featuring the following activities:Monday, February 19 Open house for hundreds of participants.
Tuesday, February 20 Driving tour of Orange County with stops at legendary restoration shops and private collections.
Wednesday, February 21 Tour of SO-CAL Speed Shop and the NHRA Museum in Pomona.
Thursday, February 22 Tour of the San Fernando Valley, visit to the Nethercutt Collection in Sylmar, and cruise along Pacific Coast Highway. Legends Dinner at the Petersen with honored guests Wally Parks, Robert E. Petersen, Ed Iskenderian, Stu Hilborn, Vic Edelbrock Jr., Edsel B. Ford II, and others.
Friday, February 23 Deuce Week Gala at the museum, featuring hundreds of collectors, enthusiasts, and racers, as well as special guests Jimmie Vaughn, Jeff Beck, and Billy Gibbons.
Saturday, February 24 Deuce Day celebration at the museum, with more than 750 participants expected for the opening of the museum's new exhibit, "32 Deuces for 32 Days," featuring 32 of the most significant Deuces. The exhibit will remain on display until March 21.
