California Car Cover Company (CCCC) hosted its 13th Annual National Street Rod Association (NSRA) Appreciation Day event at its San Fernando Valley-based headquarters on Sunday. Over 450 of the hottest street rods, muscle cars and customs gathered at the event and were displayed in the parking lot, side streets and even in front of the company's lawn.
This year's honoree was Galpin Auto Sports (GAS), one of Southern California's leading custom shops. To add a little flare to the event, Beau Boeckmann, President of Galpin Auto Sports, brought a few vehicles from the GAS toy box, including the 800 horsepower diesel-powered'65 Impala "Bio Rocket" from Pimp My Ride, a Ford GT in Gulf Oil livery, several modified late-model Mustangs and a '51 Chopped-Top Mercury kustom.
In an effort to make this event a worthy cause, CCCC and GAS teamed up to raffle off a one week rental of a Mustang GT convertible. Both teams raised nearly $500 and donated the proceeds to the Friends & Helpers charity, an organization dedicated to relieving families dealing with domestic violence.
"It never ceases to amaze me how passionate our attendees are. Every year our show becomes more popular and people are even more eager to see what cars we will have on display," said Jim DeFrank, President of California Car Cover Company. "We would like to thank the NSRA, GAS and everyone else who helped out with this event to make it possible."
Some truly unique vehicles packed into CCCC's parking lot, including a Technicolor display of pre-war hot rods and customs, several Hemi Chryslers, a road-race prepped big rig, dozens of Detroit muscle machines and even a 1930s fire truck.
The 14th Annual NSRA Appreciation Day event will be held in May 2009 at the California Car Cover Company facility in Chatsworth, Calif. Event details will be announced in early 2009.
