Kevin Care is a master stainless steel fabricator and owner of Planet Hot Rod, a high-end hot rod shop based in Branford, Connecticut. With a unique expertise, he's developed over 30 years, Kevin has the ability to create virtually anything in polished stainless. His skills were honed in the marine and architectural industries in the earlier stages of his career, and his art has become his passion. His specialty is constructing complete custom-built cars with 100 percent fabricated chassis and suspension components.
Kevin is best known as the fabricator of the "Hot Chili Peppers" '33 coupe that toured the country with the World of Wheels shows. The Chili Peppers coupe incorporates a completely removable body to showcase the car's chassis and a vast array of custom-fabricated underpinnings, right down to the pedals. The polished stainless steel theme is carried throughout the entire car, with mirror-polished floor panels and a fully polished stainless rollcage.
The engine is a supercharged and intercooled Hemi, with a one-off carburetion system on a custom-fabricated Inglese plenum with Weber carburetors. Another of Kevin's trademarks is his "overkill" approach to the engines that power his- and his customer's-cars.
