I'll let you know right now that we don't have a block of rooms at Bonneville. After much discussion, we came to the conclusion that we wouldn't really have a good way to regulate who we would release a room to, figuring that anyone could call and say they were going to cruise along with us but then just meet us in Wendover and take one of the rooms.
Here's the rough itinerary as it stands at this moment. It's pretty well set, but I can't say a few things won't change. The night stops are the most important thing to keep constant and they're set. Thursday, August 14
We'll meet at Hollywood Hot Rods (40 E. Palm Ave., Burbank) between 8:00-9:00. After that we'll make our way up Highway 99 to Bakersfield for lunch. We'll then find our way to Highway 41 to Oakhurst where we'll stay the night.
Friday, August 15
We'll leave Oakhurst on California Highway 49, The Mother Load Road, and after taking our time checking out the scenery and a few of the old towns, we'll meet up with the Foothill Classics car club for a barbecue lunch at a location that they assure us will be worth the trip. With our bellies full, we'll take Highway 88 for some more scenic views and end up in South Lake Tahoe for the night.
Saturday, August 16
You can't go to Tahoe and just see the south end of the lake, so we'll take a cruise up the west side, around the top, and down the east side to Highway 50 and head east, with possible stops in Carson City and onto Winnemucca for the night. Our friends at the Flying A Garage are going to open their doors for some evening entertainment and to show us what they've been up to preparing for the opening of the America's Car Collection Museum.
Sunday, August 17
We'll have an easy interstate cruise out 80 to Wendover and should be there by lunchtime, giving us plenty of time to check out the racers and hot rods around town as they get ready for the coming week's racing.
Monday, August 18
We hit the salt and check out the action.
