My name is Ron Menda and I have been a custom car builder and collector for many years. I started when I was fourteen and have been reading R&C for years and still enjoy all the articles.
I would like some help in identifying the history on an old Chevy custom. About five years ago I located this Chevy custom in Jackson, Tennessee. The Chevy was owned by a used car dealer who said he bought it at an auto auction in north Georgia.
After some haggling I traded my wife's little yellow VW convertible and some cash for the Chevy. When the Custom arrived it was very obvious that the car was done a long time back. The Chevy was nosed, deck, chopped with the B-pillars slanted, and had a louvered hood, '50 Merc taillights, custom homemade fender skirts and much more.
The paint was old lacquer and would turn white five minutes after you waxed it. The old Chevy even had a '40 Oldsmobile dash, but some updates to include a Gennie Shifter and a 350 Chevy and a ten-bolt rear.
I would like to solicit some help with the history of this Custom. I have been unsuccessful in all my attempts trying to find out the history or any information.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I eat and breathe customs of all types and have seven of my own. Note: the Chevy has gone a complete face lift in the last year.
