Through the generosity of Mr. and Mrs. Vic Edelbrock, the Vic and Nancy Edelbrock Scholarship Fund supports high school students with an automotive passion in local communities. Edelbrock is pleased to present the 2009 the scholarship award to Torrance, California, High School student Matthew Mitchell.
Matthew was selected through an essay submission as a top performer in Torrance High's automotive class. He will be continuing his education at El Camino College in Torrance in pursuit of a degree in business and add to his automotive knowledge through an automotive curriculum. Matthew's ultimate career goal is to turn his hobby into a career that he can enjoy every day. He intends on opening up a specialty automotive shop.
Edelbrock President, Vic Edelbrock, presented Matthew with a check for $1,500, an autographed copy of Edelbrock: Made in USA, an Edelbrock letterman's jacket and an honorary plaque. Torrance Education Foundation member, Pat Furey; Principal, John O'Brien; Torrance City Council Member, Tom Brewer; Torrance Unified School District Sr. Director of Secondary Education, Dr. Tom Stowe; and Auto Shop program instructor Adam Drace were all on hand in support of the award presentation.
When asked what this award means to him, Matt shared "I want to keep the automotive business alive with new inspiring energy and dreams."
Vic Edelbrock commented, "Now in its seventh year, this scholarship demonstrates Edelbrock's support of local high school automotive programs. The excitement level for this industry and the love of the automobile will be carried on in America by the efforts of young enthusiasts like Matthew. Edelbrock is proud to support their continued automotive education through our scholarship fund".
