Always Cool
The Ice Truck is still an inspiration. Its enduring success, in my mind, is directly attributable to the systematic collaboration between designer, Ed Newton, and builder, Dan Woods. A true collaboration we have and are still benefiting from.

As a devoted inliner and standing member of the Inliners International, I was disturbed by your article "Ditch That Six" in the May issue. I felt that maybe an old school GMC straight-six or a newer 194-292ci six would have fit fine, or maybe even a late-model Vortec six from a Trailblazer, which is capable of 300 hp in stock form. Many club members are racing the new Vortec at the drags and Bonneville. And the junk yards will almost give these away. Check the inliners website (www.inliners.org) and you'll see that the tech guys are some of the most creative people you'll ever meet. I run a Paxton supercharged 250ci Chevy six in my '48 Ford chopped custom. Oh well, just my thoughts on a miserably cold Sunday morning.

I too felt that the straight-six would have made for an interesting build and Kev had actually thought about the Vortec engine, but ultimately it's his car and he picked a different direction to go.
