Meguiar's is asking enthusiasts to drive their collector cars with the headlights on and an American Flag flying this July 9, 2010, in celebration of Collector Car Appreciation Day. With this show of support, the world's leader in surface care products is encouraging hobbyists to pay homage to the vital role automotive restoration and collection has played throughout American history.
The United States Senate passed Senate Resolution 513 at the request of the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) and the Automotive Restoration Market Organization (ARMO) council designating the second Friday in July as Collector Car Appreciation Day. The resolution reaffirms the cultural importance of the collector car and the integral role it has played in the nation's time-tested love affair with the automobile.
"For those of us collecting and preserving the cars that have shaped our history, this is our day," said Barry Meguiar, President and CEO of Meguiar's, Inc. "We are pleased that our elected officials in the United States Senate have acknowledged the positive presence that the automotive hobby has in local communities and encourage car lovers across the country to turn their headlights on and display their American Flags proudly."
This Collector Car Appreciation Day, Meguiar's encourages hobbyists to come together and take part in a nationwide "automotive handshake" in recognition of this special day. So turn your headlights on and blink them when you see another collector on July 9!
