The night before its trip to Scottsdale, Arizona, to receive the Goodguys 2010 Grundy Kustom of the Year award, the sleek '35 Ford owned by the artist/designer Bugs and built by Hollywood Hot Rods was stolen. Ruby Deluxe, along with the truck and 24-foot trailer carrying the car, was taken from a residential street in Burbank, California, at approximately 1 am, November 18. The truck and empty trailer were found later in the day. Troy Ladd at Hollywood Hot Rods said that the investigating detective believes it to be a professional job.
The beautiful Westergard-inspired '35 kustom was virtually entirely handbuilt, and features numerous custom details designed in an art deco style reminiscent of the coachbuilt cars of the '30s.
