Dream car of the month
Case in point, let's take a '30-31 Ford A coupe and give her a go! The no chop/deep channel was the East Coast flair. Some were heavily Z'd front and rear ... some just a very heavy drop.
Let's start this puppy with its drivetrain. I would take a warmed-over 292 (or if I was lucky a 312 Y-block), massage the motor as to be a good driver, add a healthy cam, and spruce the bottom end. A three-deuce carb setup would pierce the one-piece hood top. Since I am a fan of the good ol' five-speed, a T-5 or Tremec would make the list. The rear would be a tall T buggy spring latched onto a '40 Ford banjo with 9-inch axles, sunk deep into the heavily Z'd frame. My chrome shop would be a happy camper after this assault. I'd chrome the banjo 'bells, brackets, and the rear split 'bones (fronts too), heck ... I'd do that to the front and every engine part I could! Anyhow, I digress...
The frontend would be a dropped 5-inch custom Ford (heavy plated of course), split-plated 'bones, and all the hard tricks up front, plus custom-bent and fabbed chromed nerf bars both front and aft. I'd add a set of custom low-style headers with roll under exhaust and my favorite mufflers-Porters! (You gotta love the harmonic note of a Y-block rumbling!) The interior would be dressed in some funky cream and mustard gold tuck 'n' roll. (The engine and tranny would be sprayed a mustard gold too.) I'd also add a set of funky buckets right out of the Jetsons' family room and a nice '57 Ford steering wheel. Sheetmetal-wise I would fab up a custom nose for this A, complete with a stainless grille. Custom bobbed fenders around the deck, dressed with the finest proper wide whites and accented with vintage Studebaker hubcaps, would also be added. Then I would slather the whole Monty with a special mix of deep Evergreen Mint and a hint of silver flake under the base. Vroom, vroom baby.
