1949 Studebaker winner of "Go for the Gold" award

The $10,000.00 cash award "Go for the Gold" is a complex award; it is the combination of creativity, workmanship, execution, and individual design with imagination. The winner was chosen from a field of nine unbelievable vehicles from throughout the USA (Chris Carlson of Mulvane, KS with a 1934 Ford Coupe, Keith Dean of Hemet, CA with his 1940 Mercury, Shawn Mundy of Independence, KS with a 1935 Ford PU, Doug Weigel of Albuquerque, NM with his hand built 1919 Paddy Wagon, Vivian Pearce of Bentonville, AR with a 1930 Ford Roadster, Mike Kinney of No Las Vegas, NV with a 1947 Dodge, Troy Pate of Wichita, KS with his 1933 Ford Rdster and Joan Lough of Wichita, KS with a 1950 Mercury. These vehicles were all awarded a "Fine Nine Trophy" for being a part of this prestigious competition. Mike Willey of Claremore, Ok with his 1932 Ford Coupe was the winner of Darryl's Personal Choice award, and the Hall of Fame choice went to the unbelievable 1947 Dodge owned by Mike Kinney of No Las Vegas, NV also a Fine Nine winner. Starbird's Tulsa show is in its 49th annual presentation and was proud to debut Darryl's latest creation "Galaxy X2000". The "Go for the Gold" $10,00.00 cash is in its 10th Annual presentation. Tulsa is the largest indoor car show in the country having over 1000 vehicles in competition.
