OPTIMA Batteries will be teaming up with Golden State Foods and partnering with ChumpCar race participants to give children the bike building experience of a lifetime. On May 26, 2013, Build-A-Bike will be taking place at the Daytona International Speedway, in Daytona Beach, Florida.
ChumpCar racing teams will be volunteering with children at Boys & Girls Clubs to build their very first bikes.
Recently, OPTIMA partnered with Golden State Foods to create a non-profit partnership, which gave children in need the opportunity to own bicycles.
OPTIMA Batteries Director of Product Development and Marketing Cam Douglass explained, “As a kid, the first vehicle I can remember taking pride in and customizing was my bike. I think a lot of folks in the automotive enthusiast community feel the same way. And they can remember what it was like to add new chrome cranks or pegs, put on decals or install a new seat. It’s where we first started to discover our passion for the industry.”
When Optima agreed to sponsor the ChumpCar World Series, the Build-A-Bike organization finally got some juice to start operating on a much bigger scale. After four successful events in 2012, Build-A-Bike is now in a position to expand and grow.
