Kent’s single-engine chassis that he built for Ivo was known as a wheel stander. Weight distribution was key to keeping the front end down. Wheel stands were a no-no with NHRA. The rules at the time for the 92- to 94-inch wheelbase stated that 30 percent of the weight had to be on the front wheels, yet the twin Buicks in Ivo’s digger only accounted for 20 percent of the weight on the front end.
