In May 2013, Coker Tire moved into a 100,000-sq-ft facility in Southern California’s City of Industry. Last Wednesday, January 22, the facility opened its doors to the public and they kicked it off with a party. Automotive celebrities, elected government officials, VIPs, and selected media were there to help celebrate the Grand Opening which featured a custom car display, live music, and a facility tour. The new facility will be a steel and wire wheel manufacturing plant for Coker Tire and will feature a large warehouse and distribution center.
"We were honored to celebrate the Grand Opening of our West Coast operation in City of Industry with so many California car guys, friends, business associates, celebrities and elected officials,” said Coker. “While so many companies in the automotive aftermarket seem to be leaving California, we at Coker Group intentionally chose California with its huge automobile culture, availability of skilled work force, not to mention year round convertible weather. We now employ more than 40 California residents who produce steel and wire wheels and ship our collector tires and wheels from our new Los Angeles-area facility.”
With all of the custom cars in their facility, Coker Tire eventually wants you to come see their mini-museum. For all of you enthusiasts out there, they also plan on letting you watch their wheels being made when they start holding guided tours of their wheel production space. We look forward to seeing more great things from Coker. Be sure to watch Corky Coker’s new show Backroad Gold airing February 5th on Travel Channel.
