E/T Wheels continues to expand its line of classic-looking, high-quality rollers. One of the latest offerings is the Dragway, which is available in several versions. It can be had in a cast, one-piece, 15x5-inch, spindle-mount configuration that fits on early Ford spindles (and will even accept Wilwood disc brakes). A cast, one-piece, 15x5-inch, bolt-on version is also available with a Ford or Chevy pattern. Finally, two-piece bolt-on versions of the wheel are offered in widths from 6 to 14 inches. The Dragway is available fully polished or with a cast-finished center, and 18- and 20-inch versions should be available soon. Most disc-brake conversion kits for 1955-64 Chevys push the car's front wheels out 3/4-inch or more, which often looks unattractive and causes the tires to rub. Classic Performance Products now offers a bolt-on disc-brake conversion kit for these cars that does not alter track width, so there's less worry about wheel widths or rubbing. The kit uses 10.75-inch rotors and GM calipers, and comes complete with bearings, seals, hoses, calipers, pads, brackets, and the hardware needed for a simple conversion. Options include drilled, slotted, and zinc-washed rotors. The Zero Offset kit works with original spindles and steering arms, and will even fit 14-inch disc brake-compatible wheels. Just because you have a vintage Flathead in your ride doesn't mean you want to leave a trail of oil all over your driveway or garage floor. Thankfully, Flathead Jack has developed new rear main crank-seal bosses, CNC-machined from 6061 T6 aluminum, that have an extra .005-inch of material on the inside compared to the originals. This is just enough extra material to increase rear seal pressure against the crankshaft and stop those leaking problems. The new bosses will fit all '49-53 Ford and Mercury Flathead blocks. As rods and customs get more sophisticated, so do their charging needs. Accessories like fuel injection, electric fans, and audio equipment may not operate adequately, especially at start-up and idle, if they don't get enough amperage. That's why Painless Performance offers PowerStar high-amp alternators. While other high-amp alternators may only provide high output at upper rpms, PowerStar alternators generate 70 amps of output at just 700 rpm, and also offer adjustable voltage (from 13.5 to 18.5 volts), instantaneous response to increased loads for a stable power supply, and simple one-wire installation. They are available in a chrome, black, or natural finish. For more information, contact Painless Performance at (800) 54-WIRES; www.painlessperformance.com.
