Most disc-brake conversion kits for 1955-64 Chevys push the car's front wheels out 3/4-inch or more, which often looks unattractive and causes the tires to rub. Classic Performance Products now offers a bolt-on disc-brake conversion kit for these cars that does not alter track width, so there's less worry about wheel widths or rubbing. The kit uses 10.75-inch rotors and GM calipers, and comes complete with bearings, seals, hoses, calipers, pads, brackets, and the hardware needed for a simple conversion. Thankfully, Flathead Jack has developed new rear main crank-seal bosses, CNC-machined from 6061 T6 aluminum, that have an extra .005-inch of material on the inside compared to the originals.
