In Da Hood
Sherman & Associates has announced a new outer hood skin, now available for the '57 Chevrolet, matching all the details of the original. Die-formed in Detroit from electro-galvanized steel and phosphate treated, the front of the hood has been laser etched for the template of Bel Air/210/150 trim packages, or can be left smooth for a custom appearance.

Shippable anywhere in the world, all you'll need is a rust-free inner hood structure to attach it to. In addition to the hood skin, Sherman & Associates can supply many exterior and underbody sheetmetal, crash parts, repair panels, and accessories for vintage vehicles, just check out their online catalog. Bright Spark
Summit Racing Equipment's new-and-improved Street & Strip Multi-Spark Digital Capacitive Discharge ignition now has cutting-edge microprocessor controls to create consistent sparks for performance throughout the powerband. This capacitive discharge system creates a powerful 100 mJ spark at full voltage with multiple sparks below 3,000 rpm to improve starting ability, idle quality, and throttle response, while preventing plug fouling owing to cylinder load up.

The Street and Strip ignition has a 470-volt primary and 45,000-volt secondary output, plus a built-in rev limiter with rotary dials for easy adjustment from 0-9,900 rpm. For more information contact Summit Racing Equipment at (800) 230-3030 or www.summitracing.com.

Remote Control
Whether space reasons dictate a remote oil or fuel filter, or whether you choose to opt for them because of their looks, you can't deny these finned aluminum remote filter mounts from OTB Gear are good-looking pieces. Highly polished, though they're also available unpolished, and cast from A-356 aircraft-grade aluminum, they feature a spin-on filter (the oil filter is 3/4-inch longer than the fuel filter).

Drilled for 5/16-inch bolts, with the holes 4 3/16 inches center to center, total width is 5 1/4 inches, the unit projecting 3 3/4 inches from the mounting surface. The oil filter assembly measures 5 1/2 inches tall, with the fuel filter 4 3/4 inches. For more information contact OTB Gear at (909) 595-4995 or www.otbgear.com.

Nice Rear!
Steve's Auto Restorations now offers both the outer and the inner reinforcement panel below the decklid for '33-34 coupes, roadsters, and cabriolets. Many old bodies suffer from rust, collision damage, or are modified beyond repair in this area. Until now SAR has only offered the inner reinforcement panel as a hand fabricated item, making it expensive to reproduce, but these new panels are stamped from electroplated steel, utilizing new tooling that allows for affordability and a consistent exact reproduction every time.

The outer panel includes the lower mounting flange for the gas tank cover while the inner panel includes the mounting points for the lower drip channel. Both panels are complete with the side-mounting flanges. For more information contact Steve's Auto Restorations at (503) 665-2222 or www.stevesautorestorations.com.

Correct Calibration
Classic Instruments' new one-touch speedometer calibration module makes it easy to precisely calibrate virtually all electronic speedometers with just the touch of a button. Simply wire the SN74 module in line between the transmission's pulse signal or ECM output and the speedometer head. The SN74 converts all known signals and includes an 8,000 ppm signal output to control electronic cruise control.

Just push the button, drive a measured mile, and push the button again and the speedometer's calibrated! The module can be mounted out of sight in any convenient location and the button switch can be easily hidden behind the dashboard or removed after calibration is complete. For more information contact Classic Instruments at (800) 575-0461 or www.classicinstruments.com.

Brace Yerself
Chevrolets from 1949-53 have three rows of floor brace supports welded to the underside of the floor in the passenger compartment, which are common rust areas and usually require replacement in cars with rusted floor pans. Until now these had to be fabricated or repaired, such as on our Project '49 Chevy, but EMS Automotive now offers new floor brace supports.

Die-stamped in the United States from 16-gauge steel, the front, center and rear braces are available for left and right sides of the car, and fit all two- and four-door sedans. EMS suggests you call to enquire about convertibles or hardtops. For more information contact EMS Automotive at (216) 541-4585 or www.emsautomotive.com.
