Safe Shifting

We showed you an install on LimeWorks’ Safety Shifter in our June ’11 issue, but you may be interested to know that the safety part of that kit is available without the column for use with an original column. The Retro Safety Shifter Kit comprises the aluminum upper and lower housings with all working parts in stainless steel, and allows a safety switch to be fitted to fit columns with a diameter of 1 1/2 or 1 3/4 inches.

Available for GM TH350-, 400-, and 700-R4, as well as Ford C4 automatic transmissions, the kit allows the vehicle to start in Park only. Shifter shaft diameters of 3/4 or 5/8 inch can be accommodated. The shifter shaft and linkage is not included, though the linkage kit can also be purchased separately in lengths of 14-18 inches. For more information, contact LimeWorks at (562) 698-1227 or www.limeworksspeedshop.com.

Live Wire

Performance Distributors Live Wires are a revolutionary type of spark plug wire. Approximately 1/2 inch in diameter, the wires come with a heat-resistant sleeving to provide the best protection from headers and manifold heat. The sleeving provides protection from -76 degrees F to +1,400 degrees F, and the wires are custom fit for your engine, so no assembly is required.

For your convenience, each end of the wire is numbered to correspond to the correct cylinder. Spiral winding prevents electronic interference and heat shrink is applied between the boot and sleeving to keep dirt and moisture away from the wire terminals. Live Wires are also available in red, blue, black, yellow, and purple. For more information, contact Performance Distributors at (901) 396-5782 or www.performancedistributors.com.

Quarter-Masters

If you’re tackling bodywork on a ’51-52 Chevrolet, you’ll be pleased to hear that EMS now has repair sections available for the lower rear quarter-panel. It fits all two- and four-door body styles, and repairs the area from the center of the wheel opening all the way back to the tail pan.

Constructed from 18-gauge steel, the panel is precision formed with all OEM details, such as the recess for the bumper and the hole for the bumper iron. For more details, contact EMS at (216) 541-4585 or www.emsautomotive.com.

The Bend Press is ideal for making a variety of suspension and body support brackets up to 5/8-inch thick, and with the optional four-sided V-die, tight radius bends can be made in sheetmetal.
