Control Freaks

Miller Electric Mfg. Co. has introduced new digital controls and new headgear for its Arc Armor Digital Elite, Digital Performance, and Digital Pro-Hobby Series auto-darkening welding helmets. The all-new digital controls make it easier for the welder to adjust shade, delay, and sensitivity, even when wearing gloves, compared to previous digital and analog designs. The new headgear is designed to increase comfort, and offers more flexibility with six points of adjustment.

The updates also include the introduction of two new female-inspired graphic designs: Fury and Illusion. These are the industry’s first large-window professional-grade helmets with graphics for women. The full line of Arc Armor digital helmets comes with a new three-year warranty that matches the longest warranty in the industry for a welding helmet. Spirited Choice

Thirty-four years after Boyd Coddington started producing billet wheels one at a time, his son, Chris, continues the legacy in the same small shop in Southern California. Available in sizes ranging from 17x7 to 20x15 with a wide range of backspacing, and featuring an A-356 center and 6061 spun-aluminum outer, each S.O.B. wheel incorporates the same attention to detail as the billet line but at a lower price. One For All …

Victor Technologies introduces the Thermal Arc Fabricator 211i, a fully integrated MIG-Stick-TIG inverter welding system that weighs 57.3 pounds and offers the flexibility of using either 115 or 208/230 VAC single-phase primary power, 50 or 60 Hz. It delivers a welding range of 5-150 amps on 115 VAC and 5-210 amps on 230 VAC. To switch voltages, simply connect the 115V/20A power adaptor “pigtail” supplied with the system.

Touch-N-Go

The Touch-N-Go keyless start system from ididit will start your car with the simple touch of a button, and fits the company’s tilt steering columns. It features a 22mm aluminum button with mutli-color LEDs to let you know which mode it’s in. The system comes with two key fobs with four programmable channels, and has a range of 2-15 feet.

With no internal relays or moving parts, the control box is small enough to mount anywhere. It can simulate five ignition positions (off, accessory, on, crank, and run), and, for added security, has a valet switch that overrides the fob system. It also has the capability to unlock the door as you approach and lock it as you leave the vehicle. For more information, contact ididit at (517) 424-0577 or www.ididitinc.com.

Getting Started

Buick engine specialist Centerville Auto offers this gear reduction 2hp mini-starter for use on most Buick Nailheads. Besides being a powerful starter, its compact size provides the extra clearance needed for headers or the steering box, and it mounts with the solenoid down for even more free space.

This starter requires less cranking amps than a stocker, so if you have a battery in the trunk, there is less draw. Weight is just 11 pounds—half the weight of a standard Delco starter. It’s available in the standard finish shown here, or it can be ordered in chrome. For more information, contact Centerville Auto at (530) 272-1564 or www.nailheadbuick.com.

Boxing Clever

O’Brien Truckers has acquired the tooling for this Optima aluminum battery box formerly produced by Bitchin Products, featuring a finned top. It can be mounted in a variety of ways, with mounting bosses provided on the sides and bottom.

The cast aluminum box comes “as cast”. It can be painted or powdercoated, or you can order it fully polished as a special option. It ships out with a complete installation kit that consists of an inside crush pad, the electrical connectors with rubber color-coded battery boots, and installation instructions. For more information, contact O’Brien Truckers at (508) 248-1555 or www.obrientruckers.com.

Weld Done

Classic Industries’ new Weld Thru rocker panels for Tri-Five Chevys reduce prep time while providing greater corrosion resistance than the traditional black EDP coating often used on replacement panels. The silver weld-through primer eliminates heat zone problems and promotes superior weld characteristics in addition to the previously mentioned advantages.

Weld Thru rocker panels are now available for two-door ’55, ’56, and ’57 Chevys, making it easier than ever to ensure a restored Tri-Five stays that way! For more information, contact Classic Industries at ROS(855) 357-2787 or www.classicindustries.com.

Soft Touch

The latest addition to CON2R’s options list is their Soft Touch Finish. Developed during the search for a suede finish for their wheels, this new and greatly improved material provides a unique, soft feel along with a low-sheen look that is an ideal match for a deluxe interior. This urethane coating is also highly scratch- and mar-resistant and virtually unaffected by ring dings and dirty hands holding it tightly.

This new look is available on all of the company’s standard, solid-color ABS wheels as well as any custom paint upgrade. With a Soft Touch Finish on your wheel, you’ll have a comfortable feel and a classy look that won’t require replacement or rebuilding after miles and miles of cruising. The CON2R Soft Touch Finish is an $85 upgrade to any of their “Your Way” steering wheels. For more information, contact CON2R at (503) 626-6390.
