Shop Rags

The California Car Cover line of Shop Rags T-shirts has expanded to include two new designs that will conjure even more fond memories of the early days of hot rodding. Vintage images of Lou’s Speed Shop in Toledo, Ohio, or the 1965 Smokers Fuel/Gas Championships in Bakersfield with Isky 3-D cams detail these 100 percent cotton tees.

These are designs that haven’t been seen in a long, long while—but the fine folks at Shop Rags have produced them with a distressed look that makes them seem like they’ve been a much-worn favorite for years. For more information, visit California Car Cover at www.calcarcover.com.

Clean Sweep

Now available from The Filling Station are these chromed ’41-48 Chevrolet passenger car wiper transmissions with included mounting brackets. They are supplied with the linkages attached and are ready to install. Owners of ’41-48 Chevrolet passenger cars should be ecstatic to be able to replace their worn-out wiper linkage with a brand-new transmission that has not been available for over four years.

Also available are 6V and 12V electric wiper motors for traditional cars or street rods, as well as over 23,000 Chevrolet and GM car and truck parts. For more information, contact The Filling Station at (800) 841-6622 or www.fillingstation.com.

Continental Cleaner

O’Brien Truckers has done an amazing job resurrecting some of the best air cleaners from the early days, and here’s another one to add to their list. The Continental air cleaners were produced in the ’50s by Hi-Speed Power Equipment in Valley Stream, New York. This particular design is often referred to as an “Andy Kassa” air cleaner because the most famous use of them by far was on Kassa’s ’50s showcar Deuce three-window coupe.

The two-barrel version fits any two-barrel carburetor with a 2 5/8-inch neck, from the Stromberg 48/81/97s to the Rochesters. The four-barrel version fits all Edelbrock/Holley/Carter 4 BBLs with a 5 1/8-inch carb neck, and a simple adaptor ring would allow them to be used with earlier carbs with the smaller necks. For more information, contact O’Brien Truckers at (508) 248-1555 or www.obrientruckers.com.

Nailed It

PML has just released three new valve cover designs for the Buick Nailhead: the classic Smooth Side, the very clean-looking Full Fin, or the great looking “BUICK” Script with fins. Heavy-duty sand-cast aluminum construction provides strength and durability that will not bend or flex.

In addition to three design options, these covers are available in three finishes: natural cast, powdercoat, and polished. Each design accommodates PCV, oil fill, and breathers if needed, and fit ’53-66 Buick engines from 264-425 ci. Matching valley and spark plug covers will be available soon. Get Shorty

Porter Mufflers has added a Shorty muffler to their lineup. By shortening the body of the muffler to 14 inches, the Shorty has an overall length from its inlet to outlet of only 20 inches. Like the original Porter mufflers, it features a solid steel core that is hand packed with stainless steel, 16-gauge tubing, 14-gauge inlets/outlets, and 12-gauge endcaps, making these mufflers heavy duty and long lasting. Available in single and double offset designs, as well as the straight-through design to fit just about any application, they are built in the United States using aluminized steel or mirror polished 304 stainless steel.

Shorty mufflers have a more aggressive tone than the original Porters, and were designed toward the late-model muscle cars and trucks, but they are great for any exhaust system with limited space. For more information, contact Porter Muffler at (763) 463-3452 or www.portermufflers.com.

Frame Game

Superior Glass Works has introduced ’37 Chevy S-10 body kits that permit the installation of their ’37 Chevy fiberglass cabriolet and sedan delivery bodies on a donor S-10 pickup truck frame. The ’37-38 Chevy cabriolet body is very true to the original, rare design with a mildly chopped windshield and enhanced with a coupe decklid or the optional rumble seat. The ’37-38 Chevy Sedan Delivery body has several modifications, including a chopped top and the addition of longer coupe doors.

Both have been very popular for many years, and now have been re-engineered so they can be mounted to a modified ’83-02 S-10 pickup donor chassis. The original body lines and dimensions are retained. Each ’37 Chevy S-10 body kit includes an assembled, steel-structured, fiberglass main body with power windows and doors installed, and a floor contoured for the S-10 donor frame. The fenders, running boards, and one-piece nose are provided for installation by the customer. For more information, contact Superior Glass Works at (888) 731-7670 or www.superiorglassworks.com.
