Tough Buff Stuff
Mothers introduces Professional Rubbing Compound and Professional Finishing Polish, two industry-proven formulas used in body and detail shops worldwide, but now available to consumers. Over time, all finishes are subjected to small scratches, water spots, and abrasions. Professional Rubbing Compound quickly cuts through water spots and effortlessly removes heavy oxidation, car wash scratches, and other paint defects.
Professional Finishing Polish removes swirls, compounding scratches, towel marks, hazing, holograms, and other light imperfections. Finishing Polish safely reinvigorates your paint and creates a showroom-new, mirror-like finish that's ready for waxing. Both products are safe for all paints, including clearcoats, and are excellent for use after color sanding, allowing you to cut-and-buff to a brilliant shine, bringing out the best in your pride and joy. Fine-Tuned Ride Height
Stance can make or break a rod or custom, and sometimes there's only a 1- or 2-inch difference between "just right" or "not quite". That's precisely why Speedway Motors has developed these Mustang II Ride Height Adjusters to allow you to fine-tune the altitude on your Mustang II IFS.
Speedway's Mustang II Ride Height Adjusters can be used with nearly any aftermarket Mustang II–style front suspension that uses conventional coil springs and shocks. You simply trim the stock-style upper shock mounts from the spring towers and bolt the Mustang II Ride Height Adjuster assembly in place. The Mustang II Ride Height Adjusters use threaded mounting bases in conjunction with threaded upper spring seat sleeves, allowing the upper spring seats to be adjusted up or down to fine-tune your car's final ride height up to 2 inches. For more information, contact Speedway Motors at (800) 979-0122 or www.speedwaymotors.com.
Ingersoll Rand has added this new 1/2-inch drill driver (D5140) to its IQ Series of cordless tools. Engineered to withstand harsh operating conditions, the all-metal single-sleeved locking and ratcheting chuck has carbide inserts to keep the bit from deforming the drill/driver during tough applications.
The D5140 has a 16-position clutch that gives the user more control, allowing the correct speed and pressure to be applied. This means the D5140 is powerful enough to drill out a broken bolt, but has the precision control to fasten a license plate without damaging it. LS Is More
Swapping an LS engine can involve accessory drive challenges, so Holley has engineered simple, cost-effective solutions with its LS Accessory Drive Bracket kits. These brackets were designed to offer a factory-style appearance, correct belt alignment, and factory stability, fitting virtually any common LS engine regardless of water pump and harmonic balancer offsets.
The kits allow you to choose the source for accessories and components that are often already on the donor engine or host vehicle. Whether sourcing from a salvage yard, auto parts store, GM parts dealer, or Holley, you pick the accessories that match your needs and budget! A Fitment And Required Components Guide helps you locate and source components and provides other notes and helpful hints. Three steps will get you going, and step one is to determine belt alignment based on the crank pulley position on your engine. An application-specific installation kit is required for most applications. For more information, visit Holley at www.holley.com.
Dropped GM Spindles
Got a 1959-64 Pontiac or 1958-60 Buick that needs lowering? Fatman Fabrications offers these new dropped spindles for just such applications, providing better brakes and a 2 1/2-inch drop while retaining the stock GM front suspension! Fatman machines the casting so that this spindle bolts directly to either the stock Buick or Pontiac tie-rod end and control arms.
Late-1970s GM 12-inch-diameter disc brake rotors with a 5-inch bolt pattern make it easy to match the stock GM rear axle bolt pattern, while large-bore GM calipers provide exceptional stopping power. These are part of a new line of dropped disc brake spindles Fatman is developing for the first of the ball joint–type IFS GM big classic cars. Eventually all the '55-70 5-inch bolt circle Buicks, Olds, Pontiacs, and Cadillacs will be covered. For more information, contact Fatman Fabrications at (704) 545-0369 or www.fatmanfab.com.
Patriot Exhaust Products has introduced a Lakester-type header designed to fit 401-425 Nailhead Buick engines in hot rod applications. The header is constructed from 16-gauge tubing, with 5/16-inch-thick flanges and utilizes large 1 5/8-inch primary tubes and tapered megaphones for improved flow and more horsepower.
The Traditional Lakester differs from Patriot's other Lakester headers by not having a collector ring or dump tube. These are designed to run either wide open or use Patriot's slip-in baffle and turn out tips that are available separately. They're available in high heat black paint or metallic ceramic coating. For more information, contact Patriot Exhaust Products at (909) 599-5955 or www.pertronix.com.
Keep Your Cool
While many radiators used in rods and customs include a transmission cooler, for prevention of heat-related failures, a stand-alone cooler cannot be beaten. Derale's Series 7000 TransCoolers can extend transmission life, prevent failures, and improve performance.
The embossed turbulators maximize heat transfer on this four-pass model, which uses 1/2-inch copper tubing with aluminum fins and 11/32-inch inlets. The kit includes hoses, radiator adapter, and two mounting options. For more information, contact Derale Performance at (800) 421-6288 or www.derale.com.
