Extremely simple to use (hey, if I can do it...), the laser is directed at the object whose temperature it to be measured, in this case the exhaust runner (note the red "dot" of the laser on the header), the trigger pressed, and then released, revealing the temperature on the display. I ran the motor from cold for 15 minutes with the hood closed, then measured the temperature of each exhaust runner where they exited the heads, the temperature at the header flange, the collector, as well as the starter motor casing and solenoid.
