The kickup sections were centered... The kickup sections were centered at the desired angles and then hung from the tubular shock tower immediately behind where they dump back down. As with all the mounting points, rubber isolators were included. Now we could move back to... Now we could move back to the glasspacks and bridge the gap. The straight sections were purposely left long, so with the rear mounted per the previous step, the pipes were marked, cut, and tack-welded to the outlets of the mufflers. For future endeavors, such... For future endeavors, such as having to remove the exhaust for any reason, as well as to meet the powdercoater's max length requirements for high-temp coating, the exhaust was cut a foot or so behind the glasspacks in order to add a pair of collector flanges to each side. Save for a little smoothing... Save for a little smoothing here and there, followed by the forthcoming high-temp coating, the main portion of the exhaust is all finish-welded and ready to go. But the job's not over yet-we still have to complete the tailpipe sections. The other vital component... The other vital component you definitely want to have already installed is the fuel tank-it's much easier to route pipes around a tank than it is to build or find a tank to fit within the constraints of the exhaust system. Having had a stainless unit fabricated by Rick's Tanks to spec made the job that much easier on this end-but a cheaper Mustang-type tank would also have worked on the '47 Chevy as well.
