Not all applications suffer this geometric problem. The eyes on the springs that go absolutely flat when loaded will move exactly vertically with no horizontal shift (that one eye doesn't sit exactly on centerline is a photo error). But just because they can doesn't necessarily mean they should be reversed. View Related Article
