The front and rear choke arms are locked in the open position with stainless steel safety wire to assure the chokes can’t accidentally close during operation. Both SO-MO and Stromberg recommend the chokes never be removed in dumper carburetors. This can upset the balance in the carburetor’s metering circuit. View Related Article
