You may have seen IFS systems with upper control arms that angle up in the center, as shown on the left. If designed correctly, this type of IFS can have good straight-line stability but will have problems going around corners. Compare the camber angles between the two illustrations. The IFS on the left tilts the tires significantly more than the IFS on the right. This not only hinders traction, it also accelerates uneven wear of the tire tread. View Related Article
