Almost every time we publish a story on technical upgrades and options, we tell you to talk to pro builders and other rodders to find out what they’re running, how it works for them, what difficulties they encountered, and whether they’re happy with their choices. This time, we decided to take our own advice. We contacted a bunch of people—pros and backyard builders—who have converted to automatic overdrives, and interrogated them about their choices. We included everything from ’32s to early-’60s iron, low-budget cruisers to megabuck show winners, and a slew of different transmissions. The only common denominator among these rodders is that they’re all big on automatic overdrive transmissions.
