Suspension choices can be dizzying in their variety and complexity. Do you want a dropped axle up front or IFS? If a solid axle, should it be an I-beam or tubular? If IFS, do you want OE-style control arms or tubular A-arms? What spindle are you using? Discs or drums? What about spring choice: leaves, coilovers or airbags?

See what we mean? All that (and more) goes into considering the construction of the front suspension alone. You’ve got to go through the drill all over again for the rear end, though it’s a little simpler back there since the rears don’t steer.

Still, sorting through all the options can be tough, which is why we’ve compiled this guide to street rod and custom suspension components. As you’re doing your suspender homework, consider these companies and their various components.
