While it looks a little sorrowful, you’re looking at the race car that made history winning the first “500 Lapper” as it was promoted at Carrell Speedway in Gardena, May 29, 1948. The race was billed a Mini Indy 500, but before that the boys are at El Mirage wringing it out.
