We got some great reader feedback to our recent story on “Best of the Forgotten Customs.” Many of you sent us your own forgotten favorites. One of our readers, builder Donn Lowe from Lowe Kustoms in Oregon City, Oregon, went a step further by creating a list of the Top 10 Forgotten Hot Rods. We immediately headed down to our secret underground vault to dig up vintage shots of some of Donn’s picks—mixed in with a few of our own faves, of course. Most of these cars appeared in R&C and other auto mags in the ’50s, but these photos are from the files of our sister publication, Hot Rod magazine. As you’ll see, Donn likes his hot rods traditional. All of these picks are ’34-and-earlier Ford roadsters and coupes built during the ’50s. More trad than that you just can’t get.
